JAMMU, Apr 8: Coming down heavily on Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for revealing its communal agenda in recently released party manifesto, senior Congress leader and Minister for Housing, Culture and Sports Raman Bhalla today said that BJP was trying to divide the society on communal lines to get political advantage in the ensuing Lok Sabha elections.
Addressing series of public meetings at Channi Himmat, Rampura, Ruhi Morh, Marh and Gangyal, Bhalla said BJP’s manifesto is nothing but a document to communalise the elections and polarise people in regional and religious lines. He alleged that BJP was trying to spread hatred through its agenda which Congress will never allow to happen.
People, he said want development and therefore they are opting for more progressive Congress party which has a history of development, peace and progress. He urged people to realise the gravity of situation and assess for themselves the fight between communal and secular forces before voting in the ensuing Parliamentary elections.
He asserted that it was because of consistent efforts of Congress and National Conference that peace and development could be implanted in the State of Jammu and Kashmir. The peace process that was derailed was brought back on rails and conducive atmosphere created for ensuring massive development for which Central Government also funded liberally.
He said that biggest achievement of the Coalition Government was to create over six hundred new administrative units in Jammu and Kashmir which will make people have easy access to the Government at their doorsteps.
He added that the Coalition Government laid special emphasis on the development of farmers by launching various projects in agriculture and horticulture sectors and also by constructing Mandis to end the practice of middlemen. These projects were aimed at giving farmers better rates for their crops.
