NEW DELHI : To supplement the efforts of central and state governments in flood-hit Jammu and Kashmir, BJP today decided that party workers will offer their services in taking relief measures to the affected and set up a helpline in Delhi to coordinate with state party units sending relief material.
At a meeting of its central leaders as well as those from J-K chaired by party general secretaries Ram Lal and J P Nadda here today, it was decided that the party cadres in the state will offer their services and coordinate with the authorities.
“The central and state governments are grappling with the worst natural calamity that has occurred in Jammu and Kashmir. After the rescue work, the relief operation is also a big challenge.
BJP is concerned about this issue as a political party… In Kashmir and Jammu regions, where the authorities are also facing problems in taking the relief material to the affected, BJP workers in the state will coordinate with the officials and will offer their services and coordinate the efforts,” BJP spokesperson Sudhanshu Trivedi said.
“We discussed how to bring coordination in the relief operations to supplement the efforts of the central and state governments and how the relief material coming from various states and coordinate with them,” he said.
“We have also worked on setting up a helpline in Delhi for helping relief operations in Jammu and Kashmir and offer coordinated services like making available material or manpower including doctors and medicines.
The helpline numbers will be made available soon, Trivedi said. (AGENCIES)
