JAMMU, July 10: A deputation of Bhartiya Mazdoor Sangh (BMS) led by Subash Verma (J&K president, BMS) met with MP Shamsher Singh Manhas and expressed their resentment over amendment in labour laws.
The deputation comprising Ashok Choudhary (general secretary, BMS), Harbans Choudhary, Chuni Lal and Ravi Kumar apprised the MP about the anti labour policies being perused by the Central Government. The BMS leaders said that the Government must desist from adopting ordinance route for enhancing duty hours to 12 hours daily and depriving the workers from their legitimate rights.
Among local grievances it was also brought in the notice of MP that big factories in Jammu province are engaging workers from open market on daily cash payment bases instead of regular contract labourers to save ESI and PF.
They said further the ESI Hospital which is purely meant for industrial workers has been taken over by the administration without making any alternative arrangement for the workers.
The MP gave a patient hearing to the delegation and assured to take up the matter at appropriate forum.
