JAMMU, May 8: Bhartiya Mazdoor Sangh (BMS) appealed to Lieutenant Governor, GC Murmu to ease some restrictions on construction activity so that stranded labourers may get some indoor work in individuals buildings and building material shops be also allowed to open for this purpose.
The Sangh said that the workers will engage themselves to earn some money as they have spent all their saved money and no ration relief is being provided to them, thus are at the verge of starvation.
“Despite bringing in to the notice of administration, more than once, it seems the administration is hardly serious in mitigating the growing problems of the migrant labourers, which is losing patience day by day.
BMS also said that number of industries have not paid wages even for eight days of March to the contract labour, adding that the factories were running now just for publicity, making announcements for donating in PM Care Fund but failing to pay wages to their employees.
Harbans Choudhary, senior leader of BMS said that a lot of resentment was growing among the workers for receiving an indifferent treatment, adding that Labour Department ought to convey clear massage in this regard.
He further said that there was urgent need to call tripartite meeting with industry and labour representatives.
