BMS opposes to entry of FDI in retail, asks workers to be ready for strike

JAMMU, Nov 25: Strongly opposing the Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) in retail market, Insurance and pension sectors Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh (BMS) today said this will increase political corruption.
The organisation in its one -day conference here today instead urged the Government to revise the minimum wages of working class, control price rise and implement the labour laws in letter and spirit.
The convention was chaired by Karnail Chand, State president BMS.  Kartar Singh All India vice president BMS, Laxman Ravinder Singh senior leader, Bushan Sharma general secretary, Vijay Chandel, working president, Harbans Choudhary deputy general secretary and Chaman Lal Raina, district secretary addressed the conference.
Opposing the Central Government to allow FDI in retail, pension and insurance and other sectors BMS leaders Laxman Ravinder Singh and Kartar Singh said it will be fraught with serious consequences. This is an unholy alliance among Government, Corporate Sector and Multinationals, they added.
They demanded total ban on entry of FDI in retail, share market, pension and insurance sector and urged it to hold dialogue with Central trade unions. They urged the workers to join the agitation  throughout the country against the Union Government decision and participate in Satyagrah and Jail Baro Andoloan on December 18 and 19 and later make the nationwide strike on February 21 and 22 a total success.
Karnail Chand and other labour leaders through resolutions demanded to revise the minimum wages Act Rs 10000/ per month for unskilled workers, industrial workers due to sky rocketing prices of essential commodities.
They also demanded that labour laws be implemented in letter and spirit, simplify registration under BCW Act , payment of DA to SRTC employees, ESI Coverage to workers in industries surrounding Jammu and Samba district,  stopping exploitation of contractual labour and regularization of daily wagers with seven years service.
