BNGH successfully operates 500 patients for cataract

JAMMU, May 21: Bee Enn General Hospital (BNGH), which has launched the free cataract service in September 2013, has successfully operated 500th patients till date.
In this concern, the hospital today felicitated Vero Devi, the 500th patient to avail the Free Eye Cataract Surgery at a simple ceremony in its premises.
Kunil Bhalla, Managing Trustee informed that as on date, 547 patients have registered at Bee Enn General Hospital for availing Free Eye Cataract Surgery. He said the hospital saw the plight of many senior citizens who needed cataract surgery but could not afford it, so we decided to launch the free cataract service in September 2013.
Vero Devi (86), the 500th patient to avail the service had been suffering from cataract problem since several years but with the successful of cataract operation, she is now able to see clearly and her life has changed, he informed.
He said Bee Enn General Hospital is always committed to its charitable activities, providing free medical treatment to poor and needy, free Bone Mineral Density (BMD) tests, free Cleft Lip and Cleft Palate surgeries and now free Eye Cataract Surgery.
Dr Satish Kumar Gupta (MS Ophthal) informed that the aim of free Eye Cataract Surgery is to give light to those who are in dark due to lack of money
He said any person requiring this surgery can register with the reception of the hospital at a nominal cost of Rs 200. There is absolutely no other charge for surgery or consumable required for the surgery, which in the normal costs Rs 7000 to Rs 10,000 in Jammu, he added.
