Jammu, Nov 26: Bollywood Actor, Producer and Director, Rahul Bhat, MLA Jammu East Rajesh Gupta and Senior BJP Leader Moti Kaul inaugurated an exhibition cricket match between Media XI and AIKS XI in a festive atmosphere at Jammu University grounds, here today.
Media XI team defeated AIKS-XI by a margin of 78 runs.
After winning the toss, Media-XI team, led by skipper Mir Imran scored a mammoth total of 184 runs in the stipulated 20 overs.
Amit Kumar of Media XI scored highest 86 runs off 52 balls with two sixes and 11 fours. Sunil Bali was the second highest scorer with 24 runs in 17 balls with one six and two fours.
For AIKS XI, Tej took 3 wickets in his 2 overs by conceding 25 runs, while Vasu Pandita, Ashwinder Koul and Anmol claimed one wicket each.
In reply, AIKS XI bundled out for 107 runs in 20 overs. Rakesh was the top scorer with 45 runs in 54 balls with one six and six fours, while D N Bhat contributed 20 runs to the total.
For Media-XI, Sunil Bali took two wickets, while Yash Khajuria, Jagdeep Singh, Vivek Suri and Rahul took one wicket each.
The match was organized by All India Kashmir Samaj (AIKS) under the supervision of AK Raina, Vice President, Vijay Kashkari, Convener and Aryan Ramesh, Secretary, while Ashinder Koul and Rajesh Dhar were the coordinators.
Ashok Kumar and Madan Kumar were the umpires while, Vinod Kumar and Altaf Janjua was the scorer.
Amit Kumar of Media-XI was adjudged as the man of the match for his 86 runs.
Speaking on the occasion, Rajesh Gupta, MLA Jammu East said that Media is playing very positive role in promoting sports and seeing media persons taking part in sporting activity is an amazing feeling.
He also lauded the media for highlighting the social evils and ill-effects of drug abuse.
In a freewheeling chat with media persons, Bollywood star Rahul Bhat said that the time is ripe to promote sports and culture in the State of Jammu and Kashmir, adding that the sportspersons are the messengers of peace and harmony.
Mr Bhat said that the Chief Minister, Mehbooba Mufti seems focused in taking initiatives with regard to promoting sports, culture and tourism in the State.
Vice President BJP and former President AIKS, Moti Kaul while speaking on the occasion said that sports serves for delight, for ornament and for agility, adding that it were sports and games, which served the community youth as a beacon light to guide and goad it and help it not to derail from the mainstream even in adverse conditions.
