UDHAMPUR, Aug 31: Arresting the accused, Udhampur Police today foiled two separate attempts of drug peddling and liquor smuggling.
Acting on reliable information, a police party of Police Post Roundmail intercepted one motorcyclist (JK11C-111), who was on way from Udhampur to Roundmail. During thorough search of that motorcyclist, Police recovered 45 pouches of illicit liquor. Police seized the liquor pouches as well as motorcycle and arrested the accused, identified as Ved Parkash of Rathian Udhampur.
In this connection, a case FIR no 402/17 under Section 48A Ex. Act has been registered in Police Station Udhampur.
Meanwhile, in another success, Udhampur Police today arrested drug peddler at Stani and seized 4 kg poopy straw from his possession.
A Police team, led by Incharge PP Roun, SI Khyatiman Khajuria, intercepted the accused namely Davinder Singh of Samnabanj, Majalata and recovered approx 4 kg poppy straw from his possession.
In this connection, a case under relevant sections of law has been lodged at Police Station Udhampur.
