Bootlegger lands in police net

JAMMU, May 17: A bootlegger landed in Sidhra police net today and 49 pouches of illicit liquor were recovered from his possession.
As per police sources, on reliable inputs, police team led by SDPO Nagrota Bharat Bhushan Sharma and Incharge police post Sidhra SI Mohammad Arif under the supervision of SSP Jammu Uttam Chand laid a naka near Sidhra and intercepted a scooty without registration number.
During checking, police recovered 49 pouches of illicit liquor from the vehicle, which the rider was carrying to distribute it to the masses for illegitimate profits.
Police arrested the bootlegger on the spot, who has been identified as Gharu Ram (33), son of Suram Chand, a resident of Chadgal.
A case under Excise Act has been registered against the accused at Sidhra police post and investigation started.
