Bovine smuggling bid foiled

UDHAMPUR, Dec 1: Udhampur Police today rescued seven bovine animals, which were being smuggled to Kashmir valley.
Reports said that acting on reliable information, a Police party, led by  Incharge PP Roun Domail Suresh Goutam, intercepted a Tata Mobile during a special naka at Dhar Road. During thorough search, seven bovine animals were rescued from this Tata Mobile, bearing registration number JK08C-4987, which was on way from Manwal to Kashmir.
Police also arrested the smuggler, identified as Mohd Sadiq of Bhatha Chak Hira Nagar and seized the vehicle.
Meanwhile, in another success, Udhampur Police arrested a bootlegger and seized 40 pouches of liquor from his possession.
The accused, identified as Shambu Ram of Payala Ramnagar, was transporting these liquor pouches in a polythene bag for illegal sale in Ramnagar.
