JAMMU, Dec 20: Gangyal police today foiled bovine smuggling bid and rescued 17 milch animals.
A police spokesman said that, on specific information, police party from Gangyal police station laid a naka at Kunjwani Chowk and intercepted a truck bearing registration number JK14B- 6555.
During search, police rescued 17 bovine animals which were being illegally transported from Jammu to Srinagar, he said, adding that the driver of the vehicle managed to escape from the spot.
A case under FIR number 178/13 under Section 188 RPC, 3 PCA Act has been registered at police station Gangyal and investigation started.
