RAMBAN, Feb 11: Batote police foiled bovines smuggling bid by rescuing 24 cattle and arresting a smuggler.
As per police sources, on reliable information, a team from Batote Police Station laid a naka near Nashri on Jammu-Srinagar National Highway and intercepted a Srinagar bound truck.
During checking, police team rescued 24 bovine animals from the vehicle and arrested a smuggler, who has been identified as Gulzar Ahmed, son of Mohammad Kasib of Qazigund District Kulgam.
A case under FIR Number 04/2020 under Sections 188 IPC and 3 PCA Act has been registered against the accused person at Police Station Batote and investigation has been initiated.
Police team led by SHO Batote Inspector Niyaz Ahmed made the arrest under the supervision of DySP Headquarters Ramban Asgar Malik, Additional SP Ramban Sanjay Parihar and SSP Ramban Haseeb-ur-Rahman.
