Bovines smuggling bids foiled; 28 cattle rescued, 5 arrested

JAMMU, Apr 10: Nagrota, Jhajjar Kotli and Akhnoor Police foiled bovines smuggling bids by rescuing 28 cattle and arresting 5 smugglers.
As per police sources, teams from Police Stations Nagrota and Jhajjar Kotli during checking intercepted four vehicles bearing Registration Numbers JK02AD-1443, JK21D-0643, JK21D-2355 and JK02BK-5329.
During checking, police teams rescued 23 bovine animals from the vehicles and arrested five smugglers.
The arrested persons were identified as Buta Ram, son of Dewan Chand of RS Pura Jammu, Manzoor Ahmed Mir, son of Wali Mohammad Mir of Pulwama Kashmir, Satnam Singh, son of Nirmal Singh of Gogray Chak Ramgarh, Davinder Singh, son of Jarnail Singh of Jarvatal, Ramgarh Samba and Lakhvinder Singh, son of Saudagar Mal of Agray Chak RS Pura Jammu.
Cases under relevant Sections have been registered at Police Stations Nagrota and Jhajjar Kotli and investigation started.
The arrests were made by SHO Nagrota Inspector Mohammad Showket and SHO Jhajjar Kotli Inspector Rajesh Khajuria under the supervision of SDPO Nagrota Parupkar Singh and SP Rural Sanjay Sharma.
Meanwhile, a team from Police Station Akhnoor led by SHO Inspector Hilal Azhar laid a naka and intercepted a Mahindra load carrier bearing registration number JK02CQ-2728.
During checking, police team rescued 5 bovine animals from the vehicle and seized it, while the accused managed to escape from the spot by taking benefit of the darkness.
A case under FIR Number 98/2021 under relevant Sections has been registered at Police Station Akhnoor and hunt was launched to nab the accused.
