LOS ANGELES, Aug 28: Country collaborators Brad Paisley and Carrie Underwood have won a copyright infringement lawsuit over their song “Remind Me.”
The 2011 track became the subject of a court case in 2013, when singer/songwriter Amy Bowen, known professionally as Lizza Connor, accused the duo of lifting aspects of her 2007 tune of the same name, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
The plaintiff claimed she had showcased her version at a songwriting workshop, where hitmakers Kelley Lovelace and Chris DuBois, who penned the 2011 tune with Paisley, had served as advisors.
Bowen was allowed to pursue the claim at the end of 2013, but US District judge Aleta Trauger ruled the similarities in the use of the phrases “remind me” and “baby, remind me” between the two songs were not significant enough to amount to a breach of copyright. (PTI)
