JAMMU, May 29: A deputation of Dogra Brahman Pratinidhi Sabha called on the Minister for Urban Development Nawang Rigzin Jora and demanded installation of a life size statue of Maharishi Chankya at Parade Chowk, Jammu.
The deputation said that installation of the statue would be a tribute to great Chankya who is considered as a role model for the Brahman community for his philosophy on politics, nationalism, economy and other subjects besides way of life.
MLA Ashwani Sharma and MLC Jugal Kishore led the deputation, which comprised of all office bearers of the Dogra Brahman Pratinidhi Sabha.
The minister gave patient hearing to the deputation and issued on the spot instructions to Commissioner Jammu Municipal Corporation for making necessary arrangements to ensure installation of Maharishi Chankya’s life size statue at Parade Chowk.
