Bridging the gulf

Before the onset of militancy in the State, Hindus and Muslims lived in social harmony. Even post migration was not able to snatch the ties between the two communities who irrespective of all odds have been visiting   each other. The significant concern which I have is that young  generations are turning antagonistic to each other  in light of the fact that firstly they don’t live together and whatever data they gather about  one another is through the social network or hearsay. I have arrived at the conclusion that  whatever data accessible on internet is mostly  false not taking into account realities.  If today I transfer any data on any web search tool that will turn into the hotspot for other individual who may be looking on the same subject and if am biased my data is sure to be coloured one. On numerous events Kashmiris have been accusing each other on various accounts that  opposite sides have  exploited each other in the past. However to my best comprehension I haven’t gone through anything like that. If there have been any cases in isolation on either side the individuals tend to paint it for the whole community. The communities are not hostile but it is the circumstances and the mischievous elements  who abuse and exploit the situation. This is the thing that happened in Kashmir when militancy started.Had religion not been  added to this entire episode, things on ground would have been different  and  one could have heard more voices  from sensible civil society. Unfortunately, when religion upstages  individuals like to keep their perspectives dormant.
It is high time the   youth  take the charge and  I am certain that anything is conceivable to accomplish.
The individuals who have retired  on senior positions don’t  start a dialogue and keep on searching for some different positions in the establishment to keep their status in place. However, let them not forget, whatever they have accomplished is no doubt on their scholastic merit yet would they be able to deny their roots and their duty towards motherland.  Through this piece, I appeal  all the senior retd officers/academicians and NGOs , whatever is their status it is because of this land  and if this land is tormented by the militants/seperatists/short sighted people, who will review/recall  their contributions and services. Which society doesn’t have odd ones out and they turn out to be more active amid all turmoils. The recent floods in Kashmir must be   an eye opener to all. The real burglary occurred amid that time in light of the fact that mongers thought it ideal time to do their art which they are great at. That was additionally the reason that individuals were hesitant to leave their homes on the ground that they thought that their houses will become vunerable for any plunder on account of thugs. The recent episode at Sopore where those having telecom towers in their areas or houses were threatened by a lesser known outfit  to evacuate them and three to four assaults on towers made all the proprietors of tower to shut down and keep running for security. This means human being have a tendency to panic just by few attacks  and, the whole of the valley presumed that those who are in the telecom business will be next target, so to remain safe and sound they choose to close down all their operations.
By this example I am attempting to draw parallel  that when It began in the last quarter of year 1989 with bomb blasts  on streets,   it created fear psychosis among KPs.  The panic went all through the Community that  they (militants)  want to execute KPs  only. This whole fiasco led to exodus of KPs. The majority community cannot absolve itself of responsibility of protecting the minority. Anyway  what has happened in the past is irreparable, it is high time that older generation who is tolerant and has fair knowledge of Kashmir come forward and involve meaningful youth  to design and built Kashmir anew what it was famous for.
