RAJOURI, Dec 11: The much-awaited Brig Usman SPPR Inter District, Tehsil Cricket Tournament was inaugurated at the Nowshera Cricket Ground.
The event saw the participation of prominent dignitaries, with Brigadier Bir Bikram, Commander of the 80 Infantry Brigade, gracing the occasion as the chief guest. He unveiled the prestigious tournament trophy, marking the beginning of this exciting cricket competition.
In his address, Brigadier Bir Bikram emphasized the important role of sports in developing essential skills such as teamwork, discipline, and leadership among youth. He encouraged the young people of the region to actively engage in sports like cricket, which not only foster resilience but also instill qualities of dedication and commitment.
The inauguration was also attended by Abhishek Sharma, Deputy Commissioner of Rajouri, who served as the guest of honour. Other distinguished attendees included Baljeet Singh, Additional Superintendent of Police, Nowshera, and Jaswant Singh, Sub-Divisional Police Officer, Nowshera. Their presence underscored the collective support for sports initiatives in the region.
A total of eight teams will compete in the tournament, with a Rs 5,000 cash prize for the Man of the Match and a grand Rs 20 lakh cash prize for the winning team. The tournament promises to be a thrilling spectacle and is expected to play a key role in promoting sports and unity in the region.
