Brilliant Jatin, tricky Shamsher take JKP XI to Friendship Cup T20 finals

JAMMU, Aug 31: Brilliant batting display by swashbuckling Jatin Wadhavan and superb bowling performance by tricky left-arm spinner Shamsher Singh Manhas helped JKP XI to storm into the finals of the ongoing Friendship T20 Cup for peace, organized by Young Star Cricket Club at Jammu University Grounds, here today.
Earlier, in the quarterfinals, murderous 64 runs by Jatin helped JKP XI to thrash formidable Gujarat Club by 5 wickets, while in the semifinals, 5-wicket haul by Shamsher and good contributions from Rajesh Gill (37) and Jatin (41) helped JKP XI to drub strong side of Tamil Nadu Cricket Club easily by 9 wickets.
Batting first, Tamil Nadu Club scored 112 runs in 19.5 overs. Raj (26) and Praveen (19) were the main contributors. For JKP XI, Shamsher Singh was the wrecker-in-chief, who bagged 5 important wickets, while Amandeep Singh claimed 3 wickets.
In reply, JKP XI chased the target easily in 14.5 overs by losing one wicket, thus won the match by 9 wickets. Jatin and Rajesh Gill were the main contributors with 41 and 37 runs respectively.
In another match played earlier, Rajput Cricket Club Jammu defeated Udhaybhan Cricket Academy Delhi by a big margin of 59 runs in a one-sided affair.
