Brilliant Kaw, explosive Romi, magical Kuldeep help RCC Srinagar to lift 3rd Police Martyrs Cricket Cup

JAMMU, Mar 22: Murderous knock of 92 runs by opening batsman Vimarsh Kaw, quick-fire 32 runs by Romi and magical spell by Kuldeep Kumar helped Rainawari Cricket Club thrash Samar Cricket Club by a big margin of 68 runs in an easy contest and lifted the title trophy of the 3rd Police Martyrs Cricket Tournament at KC Sports Club Ground, here today.
Rajesh Kumar, IGP Jammu was the chief guest on the valedictory function, while Shakeel Ahmed Beigh, DIG Jammu was the guest of honour. The chief guest and the other dignitaries distributed prizes among the winners and runners-up teams alongwith cash award of Rs 25,000 to winning team and Rs 15,000 to the runners-up team.
Earlier, in the summit clash, Rainawari Cricket Club won the toss and elected to bat first and scored a mammoth total of 201 runs for the loss of 8 wickets in the stipulated 20 overs. Vimarsh Kaw top scored with 92 runs off 48 balls, studded with 7 fours and 6 sixes,  while  Romi contributed power-packed  32 runs off just 10 ball.  Nitin chipped in with 17 runs.  Narinder Singh was the pick of the bowlers, who took 3 wickets for Samar Club, while Amrit and Micky took 2 wickets each and Rohit claimed 1 wicket.
In reply, Samar Cricket Club bundled out for 133 runs, thus lost the match by 68 runs. Jasvinder scored 39 runs, while Amrit (14 and  Sunny  (11) were the other contributors. For RCC Srinagar, Kuldeep,  Vimarsh and Nitin took 3 wickets each,  while Sahil Sharma, Jitender and Satish shared  1 wicket each.
Vimarsh was adjudged man of the match for his superb display with bat and ball, while Kuldeep Kumar of RCC Srinagar was declared Best Bowler, Atul of Simula Club as  Best Batsman and  Satish and Rahul Mussa were awarded  joint man of the series award for their all-round performance in the tournament. The RCC Srinagar team was accompanied by Vinod Koul and Ajay Raina as manger and coach respectively, while general secretary of the Club, Rajesh Dhar was present on the occasion.
In his address, IGP Jammu lavished praise for the organizing team of the Zonal Police Headquarter Jammu  for inviting 24 premier teams from Jammu Province and for conducting the event smoothly and successfully  and said that Zonal Police Headquarter will organize more events at Provincial level in near future.
The tournament was organized  by Zonal Police Headquarters Jammu under civic action programme and the Organizing committee members includes Ashok Sharma SP SO to IGP, Rajesh Gill Chief Prosecuting Officer, Rajinder Singh  DySP DAR Jammu, Inspector Arun Jamwal ,Inspector Satvinder Singh, Inspector Vishal Sharma, Inspector J.V.Singh and SI Inderjeet singh.
The proceedings of the function were conducted by Rajesh Dhar.
The matches were officiated by BCCI Level-1 coach and umpire Saleem-ur-Rehman and  Sudhir Singh respectively, besides Sadiq Husain, Sandeep Manchanda, Suhail Yousuf, Arun, Vinod, Rakul, Yogesh and Vishal.
