JAMMU, Dec 18: The students depicted vibrant performances during 18th Annual Day function by KC Public School, here today.
On the occasion, Dr Nirmal Singh, Deputy Chief Minister was the chief guest, while Parvez Dewan, former Advisor to Governor, Sunil Sethi, State spokesperson for BJP, SS Wazir, retired Additional DGP, MY Khan, former MD and Chairman of J&K Bank and Atul Seskaria, Senior Partner, Ernest and Young graced the occasion as guests of honour. Nearly 3000 parents were present at the function.
Deputy Chief Minister visited the School Art Gallery first and appreciated the art and craft work done by the students. He also commended them for creating beautiful art with waste materials.
The first part of the formal function on the large stage at the outdoor sports complex of the school started with lighting of the lamp by the chief guest. It was followed by an invocation dance dedicated to goddess Durga.
Principal Amarendra presented the welcome address and annual report on the achievements of the school in the academic year 2015-16 was presented by members of the Students’ Council.
The report was followed by English dance-drama ‘The Best Project’ performed by students of class 5th. The play dealt with the theme of psychological problems of children growing up in the modern urban nuclear families where both parents go to work and have little time for their children. The well coordinated performance by about 180 children drove the message home that parents need to spend more time with their children and motivate them to take part in games and sports for their balanced mental and physical development. The half an hour long play left the audience spell-bound.
After the English play, Dr Nirmal Singh and the guests of honour gave away awards to students for their achievements in academics, sports and extra-curricular activities.
Dr Singh in his address emphasized the need for making education a powerful tool of shaping individuals with knowledge, skills and attitudes required to cope with the demands of an ever-changing global world of today.
The second part of the function commenced with the presentation of Michael Jackson’s ever popular song ‘We are the World’ by school choir group. It was followed by a spectacular dance-drama ‘Yash ki Dharohar’ in Hindi performed by more than 1000 students of the senior school. It dealt with the glorious past of India as represented by the heroic deeds of rulers of Rajasthan. The folk dances of Rajasthan in the colourful costumes were a feast for the eyes and were woven seamlessly into the historical narrative of great characters like Rana Sanga, Panna Dhai and Meera Bai.
While presenting vote of thanks, Chairman of the school Raju Chowdhary dwelt briefly on the educational ethos of KC Public School based firmly on the conviction that providing quality education is the noblest way of serving the community. He also shared his vision of steering the school on an ever progressive path for the benefit of the future generations.
The function concluded with the National Anthem.
