JAMMU, Nov 17: Muneeb Munaf and Abid Mushtaq’s brilliance with the willow, coupled with Sunil Kumar and Auqib Nabi’s magnificence with the ball helped Jammu and Kashmir to register a convincing victory over formidable Punjab in the Cooch Behar U-19 Boys Cricket Tournament at GGM Science College Hostel ground, here today.
Chasing a decent target of 231 runs, almost all the batsmen from Jammu and Kashmir showed guts, grit and promise to take their side to home. But, it were special knocks from Muneeb and Abid in the pressure-cooker scenario which mattered the most. They held their nerves in the crunch situation to guide their team to victory. Muneeb made 50 off 120 balls with the help of 6 fours, while Abid remained unbeaten on 39 runs off 97 balls, studded with 5 delectable boundaries. Apart from these two, good contributions from skipper Shubham Singh Pundir (34), Sahil Lotra (29), Mohammad Haziq Bhat (27), Suryansh Raina (24) and Momin Mansoor (18) made all the difference.
Earlier, brilliant bowling display by the bowling trio of Sunil Kumar (4/40), Auqib Nabi (3/35) and Shubham Singh Pundir (2/15) restricted Punjab to 209 in 74 overs in their second innings.
