JAMMU, Nov 16: British International School celebrated Annual Sports Day today.
Ramesh Kumar, Divisional Commissioner Jammu was the chief guest, while Subash Chander Chibber Director Directorate of Youth Services and Sports was the guest of honour and Nuzhat Gul Secretary of J&K Sports Council was the guest of honour. Jitender Mishra Deputy Director J&K Youth Services and Sports and Ashok Singh Jamwal Divisional Sports Officer were also present.
On the occasion, students participated in various sports and outdoor activities showing the sense of healthy competition.
The sports meet was declared open with the release of balloons and lighting the ceremonial torch followed by lighting of lamp and Saraswati Vandana.
Variety of sports races, march pass, drill, etc were presented by the students. Cultural items were also presented by the students while the colorful performance of the little ones left the audience spellbound. Umbrella dance by the students of class 4th was appreciated by the audience.
Chief guest Ramesh Kumar Divisional Commissioner Jammu in his address appreciated the efforts of sports and dance teachers and all the back hands involved in the programme.
Chairperson of British International School Gita Sharma appreciated the handwork of the staff and students. She motivated the students to take part atleast in one sport for the lifetime.
During the programme, prize distribution ceremony was also held to encourage the students in different categories of sports.
