HIRANAGAR, Jan 14: Brodi Football Club defeated Jasrota Warriors FC by four goals to nil (4-0) in the first match while Sungwali Mandi FC outclassed Dhanni FC by five goals to nil (5-0) in the Gold Cup Football Tournament, which got underway, here today.
The League cum Knockout Tournament is being organized by Surinder Singh Pathania, President Hiranagar Football Club, under the aegis of JKFA and District Sports Council, Kathua.
MLA Hiranagar, Kuldeep Raj inaugurated the event in an impressive function and well attended function at Sports Stadium, here.
Former Head Coach of Senior Women’s Indian National Team and State Football Academy Technical Director, Sajid Yousuf along with SFA Head Coach, Satpal Singh graced the occasion with their presence.
Mr Sajid motivated the players to pursue the game seriously and talked about its future prospects.
He announced the opening of SFA sub-center at Hiranagar to develop football in the area.
Other guests present on the occasion were SDPO Border Raghuvir Singh and SHO Hiranagar.
