BSF chief reviews situation

JAMMU, Jan 20: Newly appointed Director General (DG) of Border Security Force (BSF) Subhash Joshi today reviewed security scenario on the International Border (IB) with Pakistan in Jammu sector with top officials of BSF’s Jammu Frontiers.
Mr Joshi, who had recently assumed the charge as head of the para-military force, arrived here this morning on two days visit of Jammu sector.
IG BSF, Jammu Frontiers, Rajiv Krishna and senior officers briefed Mr Joshi on the situation prevailing on the International Border in Jammu sector. They told the BSF chief that the BSF jawans were on high alert on the IB following tensions on the LoC in Poonch sector and reports speaking about the presence of a number of militants across the IB on Pakistan side awaiting an opportunity to sneak into this side.
After briefing from the senior officers, Mr Joshi visited forward posts in Sidharwaan area of Akhnoor sector and met field commanders and jawans of the BSF. He boosted morale of the jawans.
Mr Joshi would fly back to New Delhi tomorrow morning.
This was Mr Joshi’s first visit to Jammu after assuming the charge as the BSF chief.
