JAISALMER, Oct 17: Outposts of the Border Security Force would be modernised with latest weaponry, firing range and vehicles, Director General of BSF Subhash Joshi has said.
A massive modernisation plan for BSF was being made at a budgetary support of Rs 4,000 crore, and the work on it has already begun, Joshi said here last evening.
Eight new choppers would be added to the BSF’s air wing and firing range would be modernised along the border, the DG told reporters during a two-day visit.
Whenever there was an intrusion from across the Pakistan border, BSF sternly acted and contained it, Joshi said.
BSF has declared 2013 as Jawan Year earlier, and under this programme guest house, schools, family quarters, and BOP buildings would be set up, he said.
The DG also said the BSF had named Indian cricketer, Virat Kohli as their brand ambassador, a first in the force.
Earlier, on his arrival Joshi inspected some of the outposts and encouraged jawans to do their jobs with dedication and commitment.
He also inaugurated a filtration plant and pipelines to provide potable water to BSF people including jawans posted on outposts.
