JAMMU, Oct 21: BSF Primary and BSF Ankur Play Schools together celebrated “October Festival” with a commitment to “entertain with a purpose” marked by a variety of cultural items creating a collage of religious, cultural & patriotic traditions of our nation.
The objective of the festival was to involve students and make them actively participate in celebration of the festive season and invigorate in them the concept of unity in diversity.
Ram Awatar, DIG/PSO Jammu Frontier BSF was the chief guest. Others present were Ram Awatar, vice president BWWA Jammu Frontier, as guest of honour, BSF fraternity, guests and parents encouraged the participants.
The fest began with the welcome speech by the headmaster of the school . Gayatri Kotwal followed by ceremonial lighting of the lamp and dance devoted to ‘MaaDurga.’ A patriotic group song and ‘Gandhijike Teen Bandar’, a short skit,was presented as a tributeto Mahatma Gandhi.
After this the students presented a ‘Natti Dance’ thereby signifying the Kullu Dassara followed by a duet song and ‘Garba Dance’ associated with Gujrat Navratri.
The winners of co-curricular activities were felicitated by the guest of honour.
The intra – section creative competitions were also held for different classes namely, Candle Decoration – class I, Paper Flower Making – class II, Elephant Decoration – class III, Thali Decoration – class IV, Toran Making – class V. The form teachers who were declared at 1st and 2nd positions were awarded by the chief guest.
Inter House Fireless Cooking Competition was also held in which the students prepared salad, sandwich and a desert. Tagore House was declared the winner and 2nd position was won by Nehru House on the criteria of presentation, nutrition & hygiene.
