JAMMU, July 13: On the call of All India United Forum of BSNL Unions and Associations, the employees of BSNL Jammu and Kashmir circle observed one day hunger strike today at Circle and SSA Headquarters for fulfillment of their demands.
Amid slogans, the protesting employees were demanding implementation of 3rd Pay Revision in BSNL from January 1 2017, settlement of pension revision to BSNL retirees from January 1 2017, calculation of pension contribution on actual basic pay, implementation of 30 per cent superannuation benefits to directly recruited employees of BSNL and withdrawal of corporate office letter dated of May 8 2017 banning all trade union activities in BSNL.
While speaking, Krishan Lal, United Forum of BSNL Unions and Associations, J&K Circle said that the employees are genuinely and legitimately expressing resentment for delay in extension of pay revision which is right of every BSNL employee. It is due to sheer hard work and dedication towards providing quality service to public that BSNL is in operational profits consecutively in third year inspite of fierce and cut throat competition in telecom sector, he said, adding that the change in pay scale and consequential hike in salary becomes due after a span of 10 years period.
“Department of Telecom (DoT) has already extended benefit of 7th Central Pay Commission recommendations to middle and top level management officers posted in BSNL on deputation from Department of Telecom from January 1 2016, it is ironical that implementation of 3rd Pay Revision in BSNL to absorbed and newly recruited employees has been linked with unrealistic conditions by Department of Telecom notwithstanding strong recommendations of CMD BSNL. Indifferent attitude of DoT to resolve important HR issues has caused wide spread resentment amongst employees”, Krishan Lal stated.
It is against complete negative and adamant attitude of the DoT and denial of the justified demands of the employees that the United Forum has given a calendar of country wide protests for acceptance of legitimate demands, he informed.
