SRINAGAR, Dec 26: Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited has started state-of-art technology electronic AN RAX telephone exchange at remote Teetwal, in Kupwara district.
A spokesman of BSNL said the exchange was inaugurated by Chief General Manager BSNL, J&K Circle R. K. Kaul at Srinagar in presence of Charan Dass, General Manager Telecom, Srinagar, M G Mufti, DGM Srinagar, Nazir Joo, DGM Mobile Srinagar and other senior Officers. The inaugural call was made by Kaul from Srinagar to Teetwal which was received by SHO Teetwal, Farooq Ahmad.
Kaul congratulated the people of Teetwal who were having no telecommunication facility so far except a village Public Telephone on Satellite.
He said the strategically located exchange would feed the local populace of the remote area of Teetwal which otherwise remains cut off from the rest of the world especially during winters.
“The mobile communication could not be extended to this area being in close vicinity to LoC. The 256 line exchange has been made operational through Satellite media,” the spokesman said.
