JAMMU, Aug 20: Superb bowling spell by Sahil Makhnotra who took two important wickets has powered the technical Cricket team of BSNL to register emphatic 50 runs win over BSNL Finance team and lifted the title trophy at Country Cricket Stadium, Gharota near here today.
BSNL technical team won the toss and decided to bat first in the final match of the series. Technical team scored 158 runs in a stipulated 20 overs match with the help of Jitender and Rohit who made 45 and 51 runs respectively, whereas Nitish, the captain of the technical team contributed 16 runs. From the bowling side, Gaaru bagged four important wickets, while Gulzar clinched two wickets.
In reply, BSNL finance team bundled out at 108 runs in stipulated 20 overs. Gulzar, skipper of the finance team made highest 28 runs, whereas Charanpal and Pranav contributed 22 and 17 runs to the total respectively. From bowling side, Sahil and Rajinder bagged two wickets each, whereas Nitish and Raju got one wicket each.
Jitender Sambyal was declared as man of the match, whereas Gulzar Jamwal was adjudged with man of the series trophy for his marvellous all round efforts in the five match series. Rajinder was the leading wicket taker of the series with eight scalps, whereas Tashi Tundup bagged best fielding award and Rohit was awarded with batsman of the series award.
The series was organized by Sanjeev Gupta (Chief Accounts Officer) BSNL under the supervision of Tashi Tundup (DGM-Finance).
Rakesh Matto, the former BSNL cricket team captain was the chief guest on the occasion who presented the trophies to the players in presence of former Ranji trophy players including Vivek Sharma and Pranav Mahajan, who was also playing from BSNL finance side.
