KATHUA, May 8: The BSP activists led by senior party leader Som Nath held a demonstration at Barnoti 10 km from here and blocked Jammu-Pathankot NH for one hour this evening in protest against the handing over of land belonging to Uttam Chand to Gujjars by one Harbans Lal.
The protestors demanded that the land be restored to Uttam Chand. They said that 20 years back Uttam Chand had given 20 marlas of land to Harbans Lal under an agreement and he handed over the same to Gujjars which was violation of the agreement.
Later Tehsildar Kathua along with Naib Tehsildar, SDPO and SHO Kathua reached the spot and pacified the protestors. The police also removed the tents of Gujjars and asked both parties to come up with Revenue records tomorrow for settlement if the issue.
