Budding sportspersons continue to display talent in Inter-School Tournaments

JAMMU, Aug 24: Budding sportspersons of Jammu and adjoining districts continued to display their skills and talent and get the nod of the selectors in the ongoing District and Zonal Level Inter-School Tournaments, being organized by the Department of Youth Services and Sports at various venues, here.
The District Level Inter-School Competition in the disciplines of Kabaddi, Kho-Kho and Volleyball for girls Under-19 was organized today at General Zorawar Sports Stadium Reasi in which female participants drawn from different government institutions took part.
Nimisha Anand, Chief Accounts Officer, Fund Office Reasi, was the chief guest at the inauguration who urged upon the students /players to take sports not only as a means of competition alone but as the potent medium of personality development.
The tournament was organized under the overall supervision of Dr SS Chib, District Youth Services and Sports Officer, Reasi.
In Kabaddi final, Government Higher Secondary School Panassa beat Government Higher Secondary School Pouni by 13 points (38-25), while in Volleyball final, Government Girls Higher Secondary School Reasi got the
better of Government Higher Secondary School Pouni in two straight sets by (26-24; 25-22) and in  Kho-Kho final, Government Higher Secondary School Bharakh beat Government Higher Secondary School Pouni in a close contest by one point with the final score reading (09-08).
Jammu Zone organized the Inter-School Tournament for Under-19 boys and girls in the disciplines of Kho-Kho, Kabaddi, Volleyball and Wrestling, under the supervision of Saroman Dogra ZPEO, Jammu at GGHSS, Bakshi Nagar , here.
In Volleyball Under-19 boys final, BSF defeated HSS Kathar by (2-0, while in Kho-Kho final, GHS Jandrah outplayed GHS Dansal by 2 points and in Kabaddi Under-19 boys summit clash, SRML  defeated CBSS by 10 points.
The Inter School Zonal Level Competitions of Satwari and Gandhi Nagar zones in the disciplines of Kabaddi, Kho-Kho,  Volleyball and Wrestling Under-19 girls were held at GHS Jammu Cantt, here.
The competition is being held under supervision of ZPEO Gandhi Nagar, Anju Gupta and ZPEO Satwari,  Poonam Kotwal.
Raj Rani, Headmistress HS Jammu Cantt was the chief guest on the concluding ceremony.
In Kho-Kho Under-19 girls final, HSS Satwari beat HSS Mandal by 14-10 points, while in Volleyball U/nder-9 girls final, Govt HSS Shastri Nagar defeated GHSS Satwari by 2-0 sets and in Kabaddi Under-19 girls final, GHSS Satwari beat GHSS Mandal by (20-09) points.
The matches were officiated by Jasdev Singh, Hardev, Mulkh Raj, Ravinder, Surinder Rajinder, Bodh Raj Vishal and Harpreet Bhalla.
Zonal Level Under-19 boys football competition was held at Maharaja Suchet Singh Stadium Samba today, under the supervision of of DYSSO Samba, Sunil Kumar. The Inter-School Kho Kho, Kabaddi, Volleyball and Wrestling Under-19 boys competition was also held at same venue, under the  supervision of ZPEO Samba, Raguvir Singh Jamwal. In Kabaddi final, KV Samba defeated Govt HSS Sumb by 18 points, while in Volleyball final, Govt HSS Samba drubbed APS by (2-0) sets and in KhO-Kho final, KV Samba prevailed over Boys HSS Sumb by 6 points.
At Govt HSS Akhnoor the Inter-School Competitions were held under the supervision of ZPEO Akhnoor, Sher Singh and ZPEO Chowki Choura, Om Prakash.
Suraj Singh Rathore, Principal Higher Secondary School Akhnoor was the chief guest on the concluding function.
In Kho-Kho summit clash, GGHSS Akhnoor defeated HSS Narrari Bala by oner innings and 10 points, while in Volleyball final, GGHSS Akhnoor outplayed APS Akhnoor by (2-0) sets and in Kabaddi final, GGHSS Akhnoor got beter of HSS Narrari Bala by 6 points (25-19).
At Vijaypur, the Zonal Level Inter-School competitions were held under the supervision of Ashok Kumar, Zonal Physical Education Officer, Vijaypur.
In Under-19 boys final, MV International School defeated Jyoti Public HSS by 5 points, while in Volleyball Under-19 boys final, Jyoti Public HSS thrashed Arvind Ghosh HSS Vijaypur by (2-0) sets.
