JAMMU, Apr 23: Players of various sports disciplines showed composure and displayed extraordinary skills while vying for top honours in the ongoing District Level Inter-School Tournaments, being organised by the Department of Youth Services and Sports, District Jammu, here.
The Inter-School District Level competitions of Under-14 and Under-17 years boys in the discipline of Badminton, Table Tennis, Chess, Carrom, Speedball, Boxing and Weightlifting concluded today at Indoor Complex, MA Stadium, here.
The Tournaments were organized under the patronage of Director General Youth Services & Sports, Dr Saleem-ur-Rehman and under the chairmanship of Madan Lal, Joint Director, while Chanchal Kour is the Organising Secretary.
In Carrom Under-14 boys Singles, Shivam Bhan of BSF School Paloura beat Manish of GHS Sure Chak by 12-07 points, while in Doubles, Ravi Kumar and Manish Kumar of GHS Sure Chak defeated Raju Kumar and Prince Chowdhary.
In Carrom Under-17 boys Singles, Harsh Digra of GMS Raipur drubbed Rishi of BSF Paloura by 10-05 points, while in Doubles, Himanshu Sambyal and Ajay Kumar of SOS Herman defeated the duo of Shitij Manhas and Rahul Kundal of Model Academy by 09-04 points.
In Table Tennis Under-17 Boys final, KV No-1 beat APS Domana by 3-1 sets. Akhilish of KV No-1 beat Aman of APS Domana by 3-1 points. Maanay of KV No-1 beat Akshit of APS Domana by 3-1 points. Keshav of APS Domana beat Herman of KV No-1 by 3-1 points. Maanay of KV No-1 trounced Aman of APS Domana by 3-0 points.
In Chess Under-14 Boys final, GD Goenka beat BSF Jammu by 4-0 points, APS Domana trounced Model Academy by 4-0 points, APS Miran Sahib held Heritage School to 2-2 draw, MHAC Nagbani beat Coventry Scholars by 3-1 points.
In Chess Under-17 boys final, MHAC Nagbani trounced GD Goenka by 3-1 points.
BSF Paloura beat Heritage School by 4-0 points, Jodhamal School held St Xavier School to 2-2 draw, SD Memorial Bhalwal drew with APS Domana by 2-2 points and Model Academy prevailed over SOS Jammu by 3-1 points.
In Badminton Under-14 semifinal, Heritage School lost to its rival 2-0, while DPS beat GD Goenka by 2-0 sets.
DPS Jammu lost the final to their rivals by 2-0 sets.
In Badminton Under-17 semifinals, GD Goenka beat Banyan International School by 2-1 sets, while APS Domana defeated their rival by 2-1 sets.
The matches were officiated by a panel of experts of the Department of Youth Services and Sports, District Jammu.
