SRINAGAR:
Business is picking up in Jammu and Kashmir after devastating floods in September last year, the Parliamentary Standing Committee (PSC) on Personnel, Public Grievances, Law and Justice said today.
There is a need for a commercial court system in tune with the current demands, chairman of the 13-member-PSC Rajya Sabha Dr E M Sudarsana Natchiappan told reporters here this afternoon.
The PSC held a series of meetings with different departments and institutions of J&K. The committee is on a visit to study the need for a commercial court system in the State. Dr Natchiappan said that business is picking up in Jammu and Kashmir after the devastating floods of 2014, and the State is on the path of development.
He said that besides the various Government agencies involved, the committee has also held meetings with private trade bodies and other stake holders to seek their inputs. He described the interactions as healthy and useful to understand the real picture and the issues of the trading community in J&K.
The committee will present its report for discussion in the monsoon session of Parliament. If passed, the same can come up for discussion in the State legislative assembly, the Chairman said. The committee Chairman also stressed upon the need for an effective public grievance redressal mechanism and heightened level of vigilance in order to address the problem of corruption. (AGENCIES)
