NEW DELHI : Three Rajya Sabha seats in Bihar and one each in Jharkhand, Uttar Pradesh, Odisha, Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra will go to the polls on June 19, the Election Commission announced tonight.
The vacancies in Bihar and one each in Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra have arisen due to the election to the 16th Lok Sabha of Rajiv Pratap Rudy, Ram Kripal Yadav, Ram Vilas Paswan, Faggan Singh Kulaste and Tariq Anwar.
The election to one seat in Jharkhand and UP is necessitated by the resignation of Kanwar Deep Singh and S P Singh Baghel.
The vacancy of the seat in Odisha is caused by the resignation of Anang Uday Singh Deo who has been elected MLA.
Notification will be issued on June 2 while the deadline for filing nominations is June 9.
Scrutiny will take place on June 10 while June 12 is the last date for withdrawal of candidature. (AGENCIES)
