Kannur, Apr 6: Cadet Swayambhu Rajebosale from Braveheart squadron clinch the title in open sea-swimming competition for Spring term-2014 conducted at Indian Naval Academy(INA), Ezhimala here today.
Mr Swayambhu Rajebosale secured the first position clocking 16 minutes and 10 seconds. A total of 47 trainees from the five squadrons of the Academy participated in the event. The trainees who took part in the event swam a distance of 1.8 kilometer off the coast at Ettikulam Bay in INA.
The event was flagged off by Vice Admiral Ajit Kumar P, AVSM, VSM, Commandant, INA. and he also presented the prizes to winners.
In his address, he congratulated the winners and stressed the importance of open seas in the life of a Naval Officer and asked the cadets to prepare themselves to take up challenges in life while at sea with these kind of events. The event is aimed at making officer-cadets comfortable with their operational environment, namely the sea, by exposing them to swimming in the open sea, as also to boost their confidence in handling the dangers of swimming deep waters, a INA release said here today.
