Chennai, Apr 27:
Still languishing low on the points table though, Kolkata Knight Riders would , however, march with some confidence into the M A Chidambaram stadium having crushed Kings XI Punjab last night, for another big battle on hand against the seemingly invincible Chennai Super Kings tomorrow.
But going by the ‘home luck’ holding stronlgy for Super Kings captain M S Dhoni, the Gautam Gambhir led Knight Riders would be under tremendous pressure coming here as the underdogs and not doing too well so far in their bid to defend the title.
Dhoni became the sixth batsman to have completed 2000 runs in IPL in the previous game against Sunrisers that went down to the wire. He has a record 52 wins as captain of the Super Kings squad.
Gambhir himself is waging a ‘battle’ with himself, so to speak, in his bid to get the attention of the national selectors. The Knight Riders have only themselves to blame for not approaching their battles with the right strategies.
Blessed with as many as seven all rounders and the wily Caribbean off spinner Sunil Narine in their ranks, they have been botching up games with poor batsmanship apparenty. Finishing has also been a sore point against them. (UNI)
