Cancellation of Amarnath Yatra in interest of invaluable human lives: SABLO

JAMMU, July 22: Shri Amarnath Barfani Langars Organisation (SABLO) today said that though the decision of cancellation of Shri Amarnath Yatra was delayed for nearly 3 months but finally a right decision has been taken in the interest of invaluable human lives and nation as a whole.
In a handout issued today, Rajan Gupta, general secretary and Vijay Kumar Thakur, president SABLO, said that the SABLO has been demanding cancellation of the Yatra since April this year but the decision was being delayed continuously.
Pankaj Soni, finance secretary, Vijay Mehra, secretary and Harsh Rishi informed that even Shri Amarnath Shrine Board (SASB) decided to cancel the Yatra in 38th meeting held on April 22 and announced it to the MEDIA, but the decision was withdrawn within few minutes and kept on hold for reasons best known to them.
They further informed that SABLO has raised lot of apprehensions and post a large number of questions to SASB on the SOPs (social/physical distancing, wearing of face mask, sanitization of Yatra area), Healthcare Protocol and safety and wellbeing of pilgrims and all other stakeholders. “Had Yatra been conducted, this would have become a hub for nationwide community spread of Corona Virus,” they added.
SABLO office bearers further said that if the decision had not been put on hold, devotees confusion and indecision could have been avoided. Moreover, a lot of money spent could have been saved and resulted in reduced pressure on Administration, Security Forces, J&K Police, Para Staff and others, whose services could have been utilized in containing COVID-19,” they said.
