4th Pawan Memorial T20 Cricket Tournament

AKHNOOR, June 24: Cantt Cricket Club Jammu and Media XI Jammu registered narrow wins over their rivals to advance in the ongoing 4th Pawan Memorial T20 Cricket Tournament, being organized by Singh Cricket Club at Higher Secondary School ground, here.
Earlier, Cantt Cricket Club defeated Patoli Cricket Club by a narrow margin of 6 runs in a high scoring game.
Batting first, Cantt Club, rode on a splendid knock by Dheeraj, who scored power-packed 43-ball 81 runs with the help of 12 fours and 3 sixes, to post a decent total of 182 runs for the loss of 3 wickets in the stipulated 20 overs. Apart from Dheeraj, Parshotam contributed valuable 44 runs including 5 boundaries, while Sahil chipped in 16 runs to the total. For Patoli Club, Rohit bagged 2 wickets, while Mahavir claimed one.
Patoli Club, in reply gave a tough fight to their rivals by scoring 176 runs in the allotted overs, falling short of just 6 runs from the required target, thus lost the match by the same margin. Sonu played a marvelous innings of unbeaten 65 runs in just 27 balls with the help of 3 fours and 7 sixes, Dheeraj Singh scored 44 runs off 30 balls, which included 4 boundaries and 2 sixes. For Cantt Club, Khushwant was the pick of the bowlers, who captured 3 important wickets, while Dheeraj, Gourav, Omesh and Raj Kumar claimed 1 wicket apiece. Dheeraj of Cantt Club was declared man of the match for his brilliant knock.
Meanwhile, in another match, Media XI Jammu scripted a narrow 10-run win over Krishna Cricket Club Akhnoor in a close contest.
Batting first, Media XI scored 150 runs in the stipulated 20 overs, losing 7 wickets in the process. Hardeep Singh was top scorer with 35 runs, scored in equal number of balls, while Monu contributed 30 and Raman Kumar 16 runs. For Krishna Club, Deepak claimed 3 wickets, while Bishen Lal bagged 2 wickets. Deepak Sharma, Mal Ditta, Kala and Raman claimed 1 wicket apiece.
Krishna Club, in reply managed to score 140 runs in the allotted overs, thus lost the match by 10 runs. Bishen Lal (36), Deepak Sharma (27) and Raman (24) were the main contributors. Deepak Singh Chib took 3 wickets for Media XI, while Meeta Singh claimed 2 wickets. Deepak Singh Chib was adjudged man of the match.
SHO Akhnoor, Mahesh Sharma was the chief guest in today’s proceedings. He donated a Cricket Mat to Singh Cricket Club on the occasion.
The match was officiated by Vikas Bali, Jimmy Mangotra and Vinod, while the tournament is being held under the supervision of Sham Singh Langeh, organizing secretary.
