NEW DELHI, June 17: Cardamom prices were up by 0.48 per cent at Rs 811.80 per kg in futures trading today as speculators created fresh positions, driven by pickup in demand at the spot market.
Further, rising export and restricted supplies from producing regions surged the prices of the spice in futures trade.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, cardamom for delivery in July rose by Rs 3.90, or 0.48 per cent to Rs 811.80 per kg in a business turnover of 195 lots.
Similarly, the spice for delivery in August edged up by Rs 1.10, or 0.13 per cent, to Rs 791.10 per kg in 32 lots.
Analysts said fresh positions built up by speculators after a pick up in demand against restricted arrivals from producing belts mainly led to the rise in cardamom prices in futures trade here. (PTI)
