Cardamom futures rise 0.45 pc as demand picks up

NEW DELHI, May 22:  Cardamom prices higher by 0.45 per cent to Rs 938 per kg in futures trading today as speculators created fresh positions, triggered by rising domestic as well as export demand in the spot market.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, cardamom for delivery in far-month July rose by 4.20, or 0.45 per cent, to Rs 938 per kg in business turnover of 33 lots.
Similarly, the spice for delivery in June traded higher by Rs 2.80, or 0.29 per cent, to Rs 962.10 per kg in 159 lots.
Analysts said speculators created fresh positions after domestic and export demand picked up in the spot market, leading to rise in cardamom prices in futures trade here. (PTI)
