Career Abacus conducts State level competition

Dignitary along with children lighting lamp to inaugurate State level competition organised by Career Abacus at Jammu on Sunday.

JAMMU, Oct 27: Career Abacus organized a State Level Competition for the students of Abacus at MNKG Montessori School, Gandhi Nagar, Jammu in which children from the age group of 5 to 13 years participated.
The function started with the lighting of lamp by the Champions of 2012, Mitashini Koul (Senior) and Master Nakul Sharma (Junior), followed by National Anthem.
Arvind Sharma, Director of Career Abacus informed that aim of this competition is to promote the learning of Abacus and Mental Arithmetic.  Children are given a chance to compete among themselves and win prizes, he added.
In the competition, children were given 200 questions which were to be completed within a time frame of 8 minutes. The competition was conducted in different levels and age groups.
Divya, Coordinator of the Institute explained the benefits of Abacus to the audience and stressed upon the need to teach this skill to all the students in the age group of 5 to 13 years.
Akanksha informed that Abacus not only helps in improving the arithmetical skills but it improves the memory, listening skills, imagination, creativity, self reliance and above all self confidence of the students.
Among others present were Atul Mahajan, Sheetal, Monika Suri, Sheetal Gupta, Kuljeet Kour, Amit Pal Singh, Jatinder Kour, Rabinder Singh, retd Chief Engineer, Chairman MNKG Montessori School,  Gurdeep Kour, retd Principal Government College for Women,  Gandhi Nagar.
