CB busts mass copying racket

JAMMU, June 29: Crime Branch today busted a racket of mass copying and arrested an impersonator in RS Pura tehsil.
Official spokesperson said that as per the inputs regarding impersonation and mass copying, a raid was conducted by the sleuths of Crime Branch at Centre Number 245, New Model Institute of Education, Khir Pind, RS Pura, who arrested Prabjot Singh, son of Gurdeep Singh of Kotli Shahdowla, RS Pura, who was impersonating himself as Parvinder Singh.
The student was appearing in the examination of Mathematics subject of Class 10th (Jammu Annual Private-2012, Summer Zone), he said, adding, that some other students were also found indulging in mass copying in connivance with the Centre Superintendent and other staff members deputed by the Board of School Education (BOSE), for the conduct of examination.
Students who were found indulging into mass copying with the help of mobile phone, hand free headphones and bluetooth devices namely, Vipin Kumar, son of Sham Lal, Gagan Deep Singh, son of Paramjeet Singh, Baljinder Singh, son of Girdhara Singh and Tajinder Singh, son of Bachitar Singh, were also arrested on the spot for action under law.
Centre Superintendent namely Shamsher Singh, Master Government Boys High School, Rangpur Moulana, his Deputy Veerpal Singh, Master High School, Gulab Garh, Sukhvir Singh (Assistant Superintendent), Private Teacher of Model Institute of Education, Khir Pind, RS Pura and Pawan Kumar (Supervisor), Government Teacher from High School, Satrayan, were also detained, spokesman said, adding, that there may be possibility of involvement of some other persons into the commission of offence.
A case under FIR number 14/2012 under section 419, 420,120-B/RPC Sec 5 of PUE Act 1987 and section 5(2) PC Act Svt 2006 has been registered against them and investigations are in progress.
Meanwhile, Chief Education Officer (CEO) ordered enquiry into the involvement of unfair means scam, which was unearthed by the sleuth of Crime Branch at Centre Number 245, New Model Institute of Education, Khir Pind, RS Pura and put the officials involved in the scam under suspension with immediate effect.
Principals of Government Higher Secondary School, Gandhi Nagar and Government Girls Higher Secondary School, Satwari, have been appointed as enquiry officers to go into the allegations and furnish report with concrete recommendation to Chief Education Officer (CEO), before July 10. The enquiry officers have been authorized to take the services of two lecturers.
The officials involved in the mass copying scam were Shamsher Singh (Superintendent), Master, Government HS Rangpur Mullana, Birpal (Deputy Superintendent), PEM, Government HS Basti Gulab Garh, Pawan Kumar (Invigilator), teacher, Government HS Satriyan, Lakhbir Singh (Assistant Superintendent), teacher, Model Institute of Education, HSS Khir Pind, Balvinder Kour, Invigilator, teacher, Model Institute of Education, HSS Khir Pind and Ranjeet Kour, Invigilator, teacher, Model Institute of education, HSS, Khir Pind.
The suspended persons will remain attached in the office of the ZEO, RS Pura, and new staff deployed for further conduct of examination.
