CB produces another challan in ETT scam

JAMMU, June 12: In the much-publicized ETT scam, Crime Branch today produced supplementary charge-sheet for the session 2008-2010 before the Special Judge Anticorruption Jammu.
The charge-sheet was presented against Dr Shiekh Bashir Ahmed, the then Director Academics Board of School Education, S S Salathia, son of Atma Singh of Choughan Salathia, Panjtirthi, the then Joint Secretary, ETT BOSE, Jagmohan Singh, son of Narinder Singh of Indira Nagar (Promoter of Khalis ETT College Gadi Garh), Sarup Chand Sharma, son of Madan Gopal Sharma of Bishnah (Promoter of RJCS Educational ETT Institute, Bishnah), Harbans, son of Kalu Ram of Kathua (Promoter of Indian ETT Institute Kathua), Pranab Ram Krishan, son of Ashok Kumar of Kathua (Promoter of Nav Durga TT & RI, Kathua) and Sunil Sawhney, son of Suraj Parkash Sawhney of Pacca Danga (Promoter of Priyadarshani Institute of Teachers Training, Badhani, Purkhoo).
According to the Crime Branch case, Elementary Teachers Training was a big scandal where money in hundreds of crores exchanged hands as bribe and almost all persons were involved in the loot.
It was established by the Crime Branch that the candidates were lured and a huge amount ranging between Rs 45,000 and Rs 80,000 was taken from each student each year for the two year course through touts for providing them the degrees / certificates by the erring institutions who do not fulfill even the basic norms and standards laid down by the National Council for Teachers Education (NCTE), but have been allowed/permitted to run this course by issuance of NOC from the State Government.
