CBI court awards 5 yrs RI to Rly storekeeper

JAMMU, May 29: Special Judge Anticorruption CBI Cases Kaneez Fatima today awarded five years rigorous imprisonment and fine of Rs 8 lakh to Anil Kumar Tara, the then DSKP Central Stores S&C Northern Railways for misappropriation of material worth lakhs of rupees.
According to the CBI case, on the receipt of information regarding huge shortage of material in Railway stores a joint  surprise check at Central Store S&C (II) Northern Railway, Jammu was conducted on July 5, 2001. During the surprise check shortage of 46.300 Metric Tonnes of various steel and 2.80 Metric Tonnes of cement worth Rs Rs 7,63,272 was found misappropriated by Anil Kumar Tara.
After hearing Senior PP SK Bhat for the CBI and Advocate KK Sharma for the accused and going through the case presented by the CBI, Special Judge Anticorruption awarded five years rigorous imprisonment and fine of Rs 8 lakh to accused Anil Kumar Tara with the direction that the amount of fine be deposited within 30 days from today failing which the same shall be realized from the estate of the accused.
