CCI asks hoteliers not to pay electricity bills for month of April

JAMMU, May 17: Jammu Chamber of Commerce and Industry has advised all the hotel owners not to pay electricity bill raised by PDD for the month of April 2018 in contravention of the budget announcement.
Decision in this regard was taken during an urgent meeting convened at Chamber House to review the non implementation of budget announcement regarding charging of Industrial Electricity Tariff from the hotels across the State.
The Chamber president Rakesh Gupta, in consultation with his office bearers decided to advise all the hotel owners not to pay electricity bills and also sent out an urgent communication to the Finance Minister Sayed Mohd. Altaf Bukhari reminding him of the budget announcement that the electricity tariff to be charged from the hotels across the State shall be at the same cost as being billed to the industries.
“We would like to submit that the PDD has already raised the bills to the hotels for the month of April 2018, but the Jammu Chamber of Commerce & Industry is going to advise all the hoteliers not to make payments against such bills received as per non industrial electric tariff,” the Chamber communication reads requesting the Minister to issue proper SRO announcing industrial electricity tariff to be charged from the hotels at an early date with retrospective effect from 1st April 2018.
The other office bearers of CCI, present in the meeting, included Rajesh Gupta, Rajeev Gupta, Manish Gupta, and Ashu Gupta.
