RAJOURI, Apr 12: Civil Engineering (CE) team defeated Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE) department by 3-2 goals and lifted the title trophy of the Inter-Departmental Football Tournament, being organised by Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University (BGSBU), here today.
In the first half, Asim Salaam of ECE netted the first goal in the 17 minute and raised the lead by 1-0 goal over CE team. Asim Aamin with his goof footwork scored two goals consequently in the next 10 minute and raised the scorecard to 2-1 goals.
In the second half, Tafazul Irshad of ECE team netted the goal via corner kick in the 40th minute and equalized the scorecard.
In the last five minutes of the game, enthusiastic Mudassir of CE team secured a direct goal from a distance of over 25 yards, which took the goal keeper vis-à-vis opponent team players by surprise.
The players of ECE team tried their level best to win the match, but failed and thus lost the match by just 3-2 goals.
On the occasion, Registrar and Dean of students Mohd Rashid Choudhary was the chief guest, while Suneet Gupta, special secretary to Vice Chancellor, Mohd Din, incharge, deputy director, physical education and sports, faculty members and students were also present.
