LEH, May 27: Chairman/Chief Executive Councillor, LAHDC, Leh Gyal P. Wangyal today inspected the site allotted for construction of Playground/Stadium at Kharu-Dho in Kharu Sub Division, here. The project is sanctioned under Languishing Project at a cost of Rs1.25 crore.
At the site, CEC discussed about the design and construction plan of stadium with SDM Kharu AG Zargar, Executive Engineer REW Skalzang Dorjey, BDC Chairman Kharu Dechen Dorjey, District Youth Services and Sports Officer, Leh Tsering Tashi, BDO Kharu and engineers of Rural Development Department, Leh.
Underling the importance of this upcoming playground/stadium in Kharu Sub Division which will be the first sports facility in the area after its completion, CEC Wangyal said that this stadium is a decade old demand of Sakti-Kharu area, the development works on which could not be initiated due to lack of funds.
CEC directed Executive Engineer REW Skalzang Dorjey, BDO Kharu and engineers of Rural Development Department, Leh to give a holistic approach in designing and construction of this maiden stadium in Kharu Sub Division and directed engineers to use remaining working season judicially and wisely to achieve maximum progress.
Wangyal stressed on engineers to make the playfield ready initially and go for construction of pavilion and other facilities later with the target to complete the project in second phase.
Wangyal also urged engineers to execute the works in close coordination with officers and staff of District Youth Services and Sports, Leh so that stadium could be constructed in line with sports requirements.
He also directed SDM Kharu and urged BDC Chairman Kharu to extend their full support in earliest completion of this stadium.
