KARGIL, July 24: In order to seek suggestions and feedback from various stakeholders with regard to the issue of affiliation of schools with the CBSE/JKBOSE and the proposed LBOSE, Chairman and Chief Executive Councillor LAHDC, Kargil, Feroz Ahmad Khan convened a meeting of the members of the Executive Council, concerned officers and other stakeholders at Council Secretariat here today.
Executive Councillor for Social Welfare, Aga Syed Mujtaba Mosavi, Executive Councillor for Works Mubarak Shah Nagvi, Executive Councillor for Zanskar Affairs Er Phunsog Tashi, Executive Councillor for Health Muhammad Ali Chandan besides the invited educationists and academicians attended the meeting.
The meeting discussed and deliberated upon various issues pertaining to the affiliation of the schools in the district to CBSE/JK BOSE and proposed LBOSE.
Issues discussed inter alia were the need for a clear Education Policy at the UT level, role of educational boards, the long time association of schools with the JK BOSE, its role in uplifting the educational scenario in Kargil and the operational autonomies extended by it besides the shortcomings in JK BOSE and the need to avert those in the future context. The affiliation procedure of the CBSE and the feasibility of continued affiliation especially in respect of private schools and the problems associated with renewal of affiliations came up for discussion.
Stationing of a Sub Office of CBSE at Kargil given the high number of enrolments in Government as well as private schools, to address administrative issues like data corrections of students and the creation of a separate LBOSE with due representation to regional sensibilities also came up for discussion.
Practical and operational problems that may need redressal in case of mass affiliation of schools with the CBSE given the tough geo-climatic conditions and the fixed system of academic calendar of the CBSE and provision for teachers training and education in view of the detachment of DIETs from the SIE J&K also figured during the discussion.
Following thorough discussions, it was decided that the LAHDC Kargil will constitute a committee to study in detail the modalities required for sustained affiliation of schools with the CBSE/JKBOSE and a proposed LBOSE.
It was further decided that the committee shall submit its recommendations in the least possible time and a joint deliberation in the matter will also be held with the LAHDC Leh following which a joint recommendation would be made to the UT Administration.
