LEH, Nov 28: Chief Executive Councillor (CEC), LAHDC, Leh Gyal P Wangyal along with EC Agriculture Stanzin Phuntsog visited the villages of Fotoksar, Hunufatta, Hinju, Urtsi, Fanjila and Wanla of Shaam region and took stock of the implementation and progress of various ongoing developmental projects.
The other aim of his tour in these villages was to assess the people’s basic problems and to give them solutions.
SDM Khaltsi Tsering Motup, Councilor area Sonam Phuntsog, and a team of district and Sub Divisional level officers and engineers accompanied the CEC.
The major public demands at Fotoksar put forth by the Sarpanch Dorjey Otsal includes opening of road through Rong, early installation of V-set till the mobile tower is sanctioned, early creation of helipad, providing of power through Alchi hydel project and improvement of drinking water supply. At Fotoksar, CEC also inspected the school and enquired about the academic status and the facilities.
At other places, most of the public demands were telecommunication facility, opening, widening and blacktopping of link roads, drinking water facility, renovation of school buildings and MAC buildings, rectification of electric poles, opening of new health centres, protection bunds along nallas to check soil erosion, assistance for establishing home-stay, construction of community hall etc. CEC gave on spot instructions to the officers and engineers to immediately attend to the public grievances.
Addressing at different places, Gyal Wangyal greeted the people on achieving UT for Ladakh. He reminded the 70 years of untiring struggles for UT under the dynamic leadership of late KG Bakula and Thupstan Chhewang and expressed his salutation to the great leaders for their unparallel contributions and supreme sacrifices in UT movement.
Gyal said that a new opportunity of accomplishing the political as well as developmental aspirations of Ladakhis has opened up with the granting of UT, and as such, the time has come to work together with more responsibilities on futuristic projects based on the genuine needs of the people and the land.
Funding will be no issue in coming days but a faster progress on the ground will be the top priority of LAHDC, CEC said and appealed to the people to extend their fullest cooperation with the functionaries in achieving the developmental goals.
CEC said that LAHDC is much serious as well as cautious in devising projects based on regional requirement and assured the people that all their legitimate demands shall be fulfilled soon.
