JAMMU, May 9: The Customs & Central Excise, Jammu in co-ordination with Association of Industries, Jammu organized awareness programme on Goods & Service Tax (GST) at AOI Bhawan, Gangyal here today.
Rajesh Jain, president, AOI-Gangyal, SB Abrol (general secretary), Vijay Sharma (secretary) and Sanjeev Vig (treasurer) welcomed to the dignitaries of Central Excise Commissionerate, Jammu for conducting the seminar on GST at Association office, Gangyal.
Seminar was addressed by Parkash Chaudhary, Assistant Commissioner (OT), Central Excise Commissionerate, Jammu and Ishwar Aggarwal, Superintendent along with Sanjeev Khanna, Inspector Central Excise Range-I, Satwari, Jammu which was attended by a large number of Central Excise / VAT assesses.
In order to ensure that Central Excise assesses as well as VAT assesses may not feel any difficulty in switching over from present system of indirect taxation i.e. Central Excise to Goods & Service Tax system from April 1, 2017, the Central Excise Commissionerate of J&K organized awareness programme on the subject `Overview of GST / Registration under GST’.
Parkash Chaudhary, Asstt Commissioner (OT) dwelt in detail on each aspect of GST and also urged all the assessees to complete their provisional registration immediately as last date for migration to GST has already lapsed that is April 30, 2017. The assesses were apprised regarding single taxation system, one tax one nation, reduction in cascading effect of tax on the tax payer as well as consumer and the benefits of new indirect tax regime to be implemented w.e.f July Ist, 2017.
A question and answer session was also held at the end of seminar. All the assesses were also informed that a dedicated GST Sewa Kender is established at Central Excise Commissionerate, OB-32, Rail Head Complex, Jammu which remain open on all working days from 9 am to 5.30 pm. Any existing VAT Assessee or Central Excise Assessee can approach this office for assistance for migration to GST.
